Dr. Donald Campbell is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the hip, knee, and shoulder as well as sports medicine.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, where he graduated magna cum laude. He completed medical school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1981 and did his internship at Letterman Army Medical Center.
Afterward, Dr. Campbell spent one year pre-residency doing orthopaedics at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia, during which time he developed an interest in sports medicine through close association of the program in Fort Benning with the Houston Sports Medicine Clinic, in addition to an orthopaedic residency at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco. During that time, he spent one year doing pediatric orthopaedics at Shriners Hospital in San Francisco and two years at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served as Chief of Orthopaedics in his second year.
Dr. Campbell has more than 25 years of orthopaedic experience. He is in his fifth year of service on the board of trustees at Catawba Valley Medical Center, where he is also a former Chief of Surgery and Chief of Medical Staff.
He's certified to perform the Oxford® unicompartmental mobile bearing knee replacement. Having earned this certification, Dr. Campbell is able to offer this less invasive alternative to total knee replacement to eligible patients.
Dr. Campbell currently sees patients at our practice locations in Hickory and Newton.
